Friday Five Link Up: Five {DIY} Favorites

I have been meaning to take part in The Friday Five Link Up, run by Courtney, Mar, and Cynthia, for the last few weeks, but then something comes up and it doesn’t happen.  Not today though!  Today’s Friday Five is “Favorites” and it can be any five favorites you want to share.  Even though I’m linking up with running/fitness blogs, I want to share my Five Favorite DIYs with all of you today.

1. Car Seat Cover I had only been sewing for about 10 months when I made this car seat cover.  It was hands down the hardest thing I had sewn to date and I was IN LOVE with it!  Plus, I made it for my baby, and it’s a great feeling making something for someone you know you will love.

2. DIY Coffee (or Tea… or Hot Chocolate!) Mugs I originally did this craft with my library teens in 2013.  It was so popular that we did it again in 2014 and will do it with bowls in 2015.  I have also used Sharpies to make coasters.  I love Sharpies!

3. {Sew} Easy Pouch with Zippered TabThe {sew} easy pouch with zippered tabs were made for my coworkers for this past Christmas.  I love zippered pouches!  I also love how much easier they have become to make with practice.  Don’t fear the zipper!

4. The Minky Blanket Oh minky blanket.  I made you when I was pregnant, and my almost three year old still sleeps with you every night.  In fact, Dax loved his blankie so much that he asked me to make him another {bigger} one.  We went together to pick out the fabric and he held my arm while I sewed it up in my machine.  It was pretty fabulous. 🙂  Now I use the same concept to make blankies for me and my coworkers.  I just use another yard of fleece instead of minky.  They make great lap blankets/shawls.  One of these days I will take a picture…

5. The Leather Bottom Tote  I wish I could truly express how much I love this bag.  I can’t. I haven’t stopped using it since I made it over a month ago.  Everything about it makes me happy.  Especially that I got to make it with a group of awesome teens at the library: Thanks for stopping by to check out my Friday Five: Five {DIY} Favorites.  Make sure to enter to win some chocolate while you’re here. 🙂

  1. wow! As a woman who has never really made anything, I am super impressed! I bought one of those zip pouches on vacation in Key West just to hold my cell phone, credit card, and money. It was the perfect little thing. Cool for you thought is you can make any size you need!! Awesome! Have a wonderful crafty weekend!!

    • Thank you, Diane. It took me about 26 years to realize I was actually crafty and now I love it! It’s my son’s third birthday tomorrow so we are going to have an awesome weekend. I hope yours is fabulous, too.

  2. I like the mug idea too! I would have never thought of it either, so sad. My favorite though is the zippered pouch. I love using these to keep me organized and though I have never used a sewing machine, it would still be fun to make some 🙂

    • Sher, I was just about 30 the first time I used a sewing machine. My husband taught me to thread it because I had no idea how. Ha! I’ve gotten much better in the last three years. It’s a lot of fun. (Mostly!)

You should make a mug today!

Thanks for commenting and stopping by.
