Weekly Workout Wrap Up

Wow!  It’s been a loooooong time since I did any kind of workout check in.  That makes me sad. 🙁

Hurting my knee was rough. Not only was I in pain, but I lost all motivation to exercise. I also started eating all the foods.  It’s my vicious cycle. I mentioned in my Hot Chocolate 15K wrap up that walking that race was a real eye opening experience for me. Seeing the pictures from after the race was also a slap in the face. I gained 20 pounds in several months, lost my confidence in my ability to do hard things, and felt all around terrible. I decided it was time to make a new commitment to myself and my health.

I knew I needed to refocus on my diet and joined The Fit Girl’s Guide April challenge on Instagram. {I had previously signed up for the March Challenge, but never really committed.}

Fit Girl’s Guide: Our mission is to make getting fit as fun, accessible, encouraging and healthy as possible! We believe in getting fit the right way. No fads, pills, wraps, or tricks. Just healthy eating from all food groups (carbs are awesome not evil) and exercise. Oh, and the secret ingredient: Girltastic positive energy from fellow ladies on the same journey. Everyone can be a Fit Girl, it just takes the willingness to start — or re-start!

I started following @fitgirlsguide on instagram and joined the #28DayJumpStart revolution.  Here’s a look at least week:

I finally walked back into my gym for some much needed upper body strength training. I worked chest, back, shoulders, tris, and bis. {There is a workout plan included with the 28 Day Jump Start, but I wanted to do my own workout since I have the gym membership.}

And then a few other pictures from Monday.

There was so much meal prep! I love my cherry fridge oats:

I want to get back my running endurance, while being pain free so I thought it would be a good idea to revisit Couch to 5K. I was at a conference down the shore Tuesday, so I got C25K  Week 1: Day 1 in next to the ocean. IMG_2373

I went back to the gym during my lunch break for some lower body strength training.  It was also my first time doing straight leg deadlifts in MONTHS and holy cow my hamstrings are still sore!

 C25K 1:2 done!  I’m actually running some of the walking breaks now, too. IMG_2442

Rest day. Dax and I spent the day visiting family in OCNJ.

Saturday, April 25, 2015IMG_2589 I finished C25K 1:3. I ended up running the entire 20 minute middle section and it was pain free. Boom!  {Confidence slowly creeping back.}

Rest Day!

-C25K Week 1 completed with three runs
-Two strength training sessions at the gym

I had a really great first week on the Fit Girl’s #28DayJumpstart program. I made some great choices, got in some good workouts, and feel more in control than I have felt in a very long time. My goal for week 2 is to get more strength work outs in at the gym!

And to end on a happy note: IMG_2614 3 pounds and 4.25 inches gone. #ByeFelicia

Have a fit day, you all.
