Weekly Workout Wrap Up

I’ve mentioned before that when it comes to diet and exercise, I can only do one at the time. I managed to prove myself wrong last month when I took part in the Fit Girl’s Guide #28DayJumpstart. However, as I become more focused on running, the insatiable hunger has come back like a raging beast. 

I’ve made peace with the knowledge that I don’t run to lose weight. I do it for how it makes me feel, the pride it gives me in myself, and the overall joy I feel during and after. That being said, I need to remember that running does NOT mean I can eat whatever I want. {There have been several burgers this week, two ice cream cones, and at least one shake. Whoops!} So, this is sort of my working goal for now and the upcoming week: Don’t eat like you just did a long run every. single. day. I’ll let you know how I do. Now let’s look at least week’s wrap up.

Monday, June 1, 2015
IMG_3424Upper body lifting followed by 1 mile of HIIT on the treadmill.

Tuesday, June 2, 2015 IMG_34672 mile run on the treadmill. I was supposed to run three, but I had a case of the dizzies, with some light headedness thrown in for even more fun. I ended up stretching til I felt better, then doing squats, bridges, leg lifts, and donkey kicks.

Wednesday, June 3, 2015 IMG_34954 mile run on the treadmill. That was a sweaty mess. Even my knees were sweating by the time I was done.

Thursday, June 4, 2015 IMG_35253 mile run at 9:20 pm. I don’t often go to the gym after my closing shift, but I do love to get a good run in before bed. I know some people can’t sleep after exercising, but for me, I’m able to work out all of the stress from the day. It’s therapeutic.

Saturday, June 6, 2015 IMG_3576I feel like I should call this “active rest”. Even though I didn’t officially exercise, I did spend several hours walking the OCNJ boardwalk and chasing Dax the Destroyer all over the beach. Also, when did my baby decide he loved playing IN the ocean so much?!

Sunday, June 7, 2015 IMG_35999 mile run! I’m still doing intervals {5 minutes running/1 minute walking} for my long runs. Does it suck going so much slower? Well, yeah. Is it awesome being able to run without knee pain? Heck yes! I think interval training is one of the best ideas I ever had. The runs still kick my butt, but I feel so much more energetic doing them. This week’s long run is 10 miles and I can’t wait to see how it goes.

-19 miles {YAY!}
-1 upper body strength training session {BOO!}

Lastly, the world’s most horrible stretcher {me} has decided to take part in #TheStretchProject being hosted by BlogilatesThe Stretch ProjectI’m pretty inflexible, but every night my husband and I attempt to do the daily stretch. {Spoiler alert: It’s still not pretty, but I’m finding it easier to get into the previous stretches each day, so it must be helping.} You should check out #TheStretchProject on Instagram.   1. I am the same way…when I’m running long distances I am freakin starving all.the.time. And I put on weight. It’s hard not to want to eat every single thing in eye sight.

    You and your husband are too cute doing all those stretches together!

    • I wish I could live on ice cream and fried pickles. That would be ideal. And thank you! Dave always gives me grief about not stretching, so I suckered him into stretching with me. It’s been fun. 🙂
